Please Help Me! Adding another mailbox to Outlook

How do I add a mailbox to my Outlook account so that it opens automatically whenever I open Outlook?

  1. Before you start, make sure you know the name of the mailbox you want to add.  There is no place to “Browse” when adding a mailbox.  If you don’t know the name of the mailbox, check the Global Address List.
  2. At your Inbox, select Tools, Email Accounts
  3. Make sure “View or Change existing.....” is selected, then click Next.
  4. At the Email Accounts screen, click the Change button
  5. At the Exchange Server Settings screen, click the More Settings button.
  6. Click the Advanced tab.
  7. Click the Add button.  Type the name of the mailbox you want to open in the Add Mailbox field, then click OK.
  8. Click Apply, then click OK.
  9. Click the Next button
  10. Click the Finish button.
  11. Mailbox should display on the left side of your Outlook screen.

Need Some Help?

The Systems Development web page now contains a Help Request that staff can use to submit requests for assistance, or simply to request general information about a computer related issue.  The Help Request form can be found here:

http://www.uncc.edu/sysdev/help_request.htm

It might be a good idea to place a shortcut to this form on your desktop, so you can instantly access it if you need it!  To do that, access the form using the above link, and then drag the Internet Explorer icon in the address bar to your desktop.   Release the mouse button to create the shortcut.  NOTE:  You may have to re-size some screens so that the desktop is visible.

Excel: Name that Cell

In Excel, pressing Ctrl+End will take you to the last cell in your worksheet.  However, if you want to be able to tell Excel to go to a specific cell in your worksheet, you need to first name the cell.  Click in the cell, then type a name for the cell in the Name box (see below).  Be sure to press Enter after you type the cell name.

Text Box: July Quick Tip
When you select “File” from the Word or Excel menu, a list of recently used files is displayed. You can change this display to show more files, less files or no files. In either application, Select Tools, Options from the menu. On the General Tab, indicate the number of file names you want listed in the recently used files list (up to 9). Click OK. The changes will take effect after you close, then re-open the application, however, if you have increased the number of files you want displayed, the change will be evident once you have opened the number of files you specified.

From now on, whenever you want to go to that particular cell, just click the drop down arrow next to the name box and select the name.

Eprint: Converting Eprint files to Excel

Application Launcher does not load

If your Novell Application Launcher does not load, it could be related to an issue with the Microsoft Office Document Imagewriter printer, which is installed on your computer by default when you install Office.  Open the Microsoft Office Document Imagewriter from the printer control panel and delete any documents queued to print.  Restart your computer and see if the application launcher loads.  If not, the problem may be related to adware or spyware – contact me for information on how to proceed.

Changing your screen resolution

To change your screen resolution to 1024x768, right click anywhere on the UNC Charlotte background and select Properties from the menu.  When the Properties dialog box displays, select the Settings tab.   In the screen resolution portion of the dialog box, click and drag the pointer until the settings are 1024 x 768.  Click Apply then click OK.  If you receive a message asking you if you want to keep the settings, click Yes.
