The primary purpose of Systems Development is to take full advantage of the use of information technology to provide high-quality business services to support the University’s mission of instruction, research, and public service. The unit strives to employ state of the art information technology to improve accessibility to business related information thereby enhancing campus-wide fiscal management.
Systems Development is responsible for analysis, functional design, testing and implementation of the information technology systems that support the core business functions of the university. The unit must provide a full range of automated support for business processes consistent with the needs of the units within Business Affairs in conformity, where possible, with the standards for efficient use of information technology resources established by Information and Technology Services.
Staff within the unit provides support and maintenance for systems ranging from the core administrative systems to net-worked and stand-alone personal computing applications. The unit serves as the intermediary between university departmental end-users and the staff within the Information Services organization. When appropriate, the unit will also serve as a liaison between departmental end-users and commercial software application providers.
